Me & My Jeep

My name is Ryan Mishler and I am explorer and admirer of the Pacific Northwest. I was born, raised, and still live in the Portland metro area of Oregon. My family is full of adventurers and we would frequently go camping while I was growing up. My dad was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman, and my mom has a constant sense of adventure that would never lead us down the same road twice. With their influence, I've developed a love for the outdoors and exploring. From a kayaking trip down a river, muddy logging roads of the Coast Range, dusty curves in central Oregon, wide open gravel roads in Eastern Oregon, to an afternoon drive in the mountains, I am down for any adventure.

In my spare time, I can be found with a camera in my hand or a campfire burning. I make an effort to explore something new nearly everyday, whether on the way to work or on the weekends with friends. I also enjoy researching and chasing trains, capturing time laps, camping, fishing, and working on my Jeep. Okay, who really enjoys working on their Jeep? It's rather be driving!

My Jeep is something I've slowly built-up into the perfect rig for my purposes. I purchased the blue 1999 Jeep Cherokee Sport from my mom and drove it basically stock for several years before adding an add-a-leaf to correct the saggy rear suspension.

In the spring of 2010, I installed a Warrior Prodcuts 3" front lift, along with Rubicon Express 3 1/2" rear leafs and a HD-Engineering Shackle Relocation Bracket kit to smooth out the ride. With the lift, I upgraded to 31.5" Wild Country Radial XTX Sport A/T tires, including a full size spare. Protection was upgraded to include a factory gas tank skid, to match the one up front, and a Warrior Products winch bumper with brush guard, carrying a Smittybilt XRC10 winch. In addition, a Durango Off-road tire carrier rear-bumper went on the back to protect the rear and carry my spare.

I installed some custom-made rock sliders, and a Yaseu FT-7900R ham radio in spring of 2011.  I have a Delorme Earthmate PN-60w GPS for off-road navigation and a Magellan Nuvi 205 for on-road navigation. I also carry a SPOT Satellite Messenger for times where I need help and am out of normal communication range (and to let Mom know I'm okay when out by myself).
